7 Days: Sweetwaters – Samburu – Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara
Arrival in Nairobi
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Nairobi, Kenya. After passing through customs, you will be escorted to your Nairobi hotel by Right Time Adventures Meet and Greet team.
Day 1: Nairobi – Ol Pejeta Conservancy (Sweetwaters)
After your breakfast depart to Ol Pejeta Private Ranch, situated on the Equator and with a stunning backdrop of the majestic Mount Kenya. The 90,000-acre wildlife Conservancy boasts of an astounding variety of animals. We arrive at the camp to a warm welcome, for check-in then have lunch. This afternoon we depart for an exciting game viewing in this wildlife rich game sanctuary. Home to the Big Five (the endangered black and white rhinos, elephants, lion, leopard & Cape buffalo) and a variety of other animals such as the Grevy’s zebra, cheetah, gazelles, black-back jackals, ostrich, baboons, waterbuck, Oryx, eland and several hundred bird species. We will enjoy a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, which is incorporated within the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and provides a lifelong refuge to orphaned Chimpanzees from West and Central Africa. Return to our tented camp for dinner and overnight: Sweetwaters Serena Tented Camp.
Day 2: Sweetwaters Serena Tented Camp – Samburu National Reserve
After breakfast, enjoy morning game drive across the Equator where you stop over for a photo opportunity. Proceed to the rugged north via the Isiolo town, which is the transition to the Northern frontier of Kenya. We arrive in Samburu for a game drive en route to our lodge. Samburu is home to 4 of the Big Five (Elephants, Lion, Leopard & Cape Buffalo with the exception of Rhino), but also host to other animals such as the gravy's zebra, cheetah, gazelles, black-back jackals, ostrich, baboons, waterbuck, oryx, eland and several hundred bird species. Check in at our lodge for lunch. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight in a Samburu Lodge.
Day 3: Explore Samburu including visit to a Samburu Village
After breakfast at our lodge, we continue exploring for more of Africa’s spectacular wildlife on an exciting morning game drive. Samburu Game Reserve, a semi-arid bush country, has its own character – rocky outcrops, prominent mountain ranges, Doum palms, riverine Acacia forest, and crocodile infested rivers. We schedule within the day, a visit to an authentic Samburu Village. Dinner and overnight at our Lodge.
Day 4: Samburu – Lake Nakuru National Park
Breakfast at the lodge and depart for the Great Rift Valley. Warm lunch shall be served at a hotel in Nyahururu where we have the opportunity to see The Thomson’s Falls. Later we will arrive at the Lake Nakuru National Park Gate for an afternoon game drive enroute to our lodge. Here, we find various species of animals; including the cats like Lion and Leopard, the endangered Rothschild giraffes, Burchell’s zebra, just to name but a few. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded too. Lake Nakuru National Park is also one of the best places to view the endangered Black and White Rhinos. Enjoy dinner and overnight at a Nakuru Lodge.
Day 5: Lake Nakuru N. Park – Masai Mara Game Reserve
After an early morning breakfast, we depart for the Masai Mara National Reserve – place of wonderful scenery and plenty of game. We arrive in time for check-in and lunch at our lodge. After a short rest, we embark on an afternoon game drive to enjoy the rolling plains and grasslands here stretching into the horizon, and is home to the black-manned lion, the savannah elephant, the Cape buffalo, wildebeest, spotted hyena, rhino, Topi, the Maasai giraffes, and many others. Masai Mara is known for its variety and concentration of wildlife not only in Kenya but also the world over. Dinner and overnight at our lodg.
Day 6: Experience Full Day In Masai Mara.
Enjoy breakfast at the lodge, then proceed on a morning game drive and adventure, including a visit to the Mara River before lunch. In the afternoon, we do another game drive till dusky. If you travel in July through September, you are just in time for the eighth wonder of the world – THE WILDEBEEST MIGRATION, where thousands of wildebeests migrate annually to Mara in search of pasture and mating. En route, tens of wildebeests are carried into the raging waters; while others are captured and killed by giant crocodiles. The wildebeests are closely followed by Burchell’s zebras and impalas. Predators in packs of hundreds also follow and lay in wait for these animals that become weak or incapacitated during the long journey for a kill. We may be lucky to witness a leopard or a cheetah sprint and make a kill! Dinner and overnight at our Lodge.
Today is when you have opportunity to fly balloon over the Masai Mara. The cost is around US$ 450.00 per person. Balloon package includes early morning pick up from your lodge, approximately 1 hour flight, Champaign breakfast in the wilderness, after landing, and transfer back to your lodge. All between dawn, and approx. 11h00.
Day 7 :: Masai Mara – Nairobi
After breakfast, we have our short game drive enroute and leave for a drive back to Nairobi. Lunch is on our way and we arrive late in the afternoon to continue with your onward travel plans.
